President of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Mayawati, stated on Wednesday that while her party is in favor of the Union cabinet approving the plan to hold simultaneous elections, the goal should be the good of the country and the population at large.
Mayawati stated on her X handle (formerly Twitter), “Our party’s stand on the approval given today by the Union Cabinet to the proposal to hold simultaneous elections of Lok Sabha, Assembly and local bodies in the country under the system of ‘One Country, One Election’ is positive, but its objective must be in the national and public interest.”
Party officials have advised that Mayawati will convene a special meeting at the state office located at 12 Mall Avenue starting at 11 a.m. According to a press statement from the BSP headquarters, the leader of the party will solicit input from party members regarding the choice of candidates.
According to a senior party official, “She will also address issues like confusion in giving tickets to candidates and denial of tickets to stalwarts in the recently concluded LS polls.”
All party office-bearers will gather on Thursday under the auspices of Mayawati to discuss the UP assembly by-elections, which are anticipated to yield 10 seats by the end of the year. She will also assess how various individuals are doing with the tasks entrusted to them in order to improve the party’s organizational and public relations.
In order to rebuild its support base, the BSP plans to run a more vigorous campaign in the polls than it did in the 2022 UP assembly election and the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
