The ‘Majhi Ladki Bahin’ program introduced by the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra in the last Interim Budget post Lok Sabha elections 2024, is seen as a possible key for the alliance to win votes and reclaim power in the state. This followed their unsatisfactory showing in the event.
The ‘Majhi Ladki Bahin’ program, introduced by the Mahayuti Administration in its recent Interim Budget following the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, is seen as a possible key to winning votes for the alliance aiming to reclaim control in the state. This followed their unsatisfactory showing in the most recent Lok Sabha elections.
Having already sent Rs 1,500 each to qualifying women in the state for the first two payments, the government is now getting ready to disburse the third and most important instalment right before the state assembly elections. Beneficiary women will have Rs 1,500 deposited into their bank accounts by September 29.
This program is seen as the main project of the present government, as the combined opposition in the state, the ‘Mahavikas Aghadi,’ has not been able to devise a successful response. Actually, numerous MVA leaders have suggested that they plan to maintain the program if they win the election, and may even raise the amount of financial assistance offered.
On September 29, a program has been arranged by the state government in Mangaon Taluka, situated in Raigad district. As per the details from the Women and Child Development Department, over 1,000 beneficiaries from Raigad and nearby districts will participate in the event. The event will highlight how the program has transformed women’s economic stability, with a focus on its positive impact in rural areas. During the event, the success stories of individuals who have benefited from the program will be showcased to demonstrate how it has enabled women to gain financial autonomy and make a positive impact in their communities.
The event in Mangaon will not just honor the accomplishments of women recipients, but also acknowledge their strength in enhancing their socio-economic position. The third phase of the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana on September 29 represents a significant step towards building a society that is more inclusive and empowered.
Over 10 million women have submitted applications for the program up to now. Both the initial two payments were issued simultaneously in August during the Rakshabandhan celebration, and the third payment will be deposited into recipients’ connected bank accounts by the end of September. Registration for the program was originally scheduled to end on July 31.
The Mukhya Mantri Ladki Bahin Yojana, introduced by the government led by Eknath Shinde, is designed to assist women who are married, divorced, or destitute and are between the ages of 21 and 65. The program, revealed in the state budget in late June, is estimated to require Rs 46,000 crore every year. Women earning less than Rs 2.5 lakh annually qualify for the program.
