According to an election official, 4,140 candidates remain in the race for 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra following the closure of the nomination withdrawal deadline on Monday. He mentioned that the number of candidates for the upcoming election, 4,140, is 28% higher than the 3,239 candidates who ran in the 2019 assembly elections. Authorities have announced that 420 candidates will run for election on 36 seats in Mumbai, with 303 candidates vying for 21 seats in Pune district.
