The party faces increased issues in the Maharashtra assembly elections as Gopal Shetty, a two-time former MP and multiple-time MLA of BJP, has rebelled. The party has selected Sanjay Upadhyay as their candidate for the Borivali constituency. Upset by this, Gopal Shetty has submitted his candidacy as an independent nominee. In an attempt to convince him on Saturday, Devendra Fadnavis, a BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister, met with him and tried to persuade him. However, it has been reported that Gopal Shetty is not willing to withdraw his nomination.
Shetty is disappointed about not being nominated first for the Lok Sabha and then for the Assembly. Gopal Shetty encountered Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Sagar Bungalow on Saturday.
He stated that he went to congratulate Devendra Fadnavis. He mentioned that Devendra Fadnavis holds the position of Deputy Chief Minister, but in my perspective, he is the Chief Minister. Had he visited my home, I wouldn’t have been pleased, hence I decided to go to his place instead.
Gopal Shetty stated that he will remain in the party even if he is removed from it. I remain resolved. The task I am engaged in is aimed at serving the interests of the party. Some party attendees are causing harm to the party. I am battling against those individuals. They are willing to do whatever is necessary for the party’s advantage. If I progress, it will benefit the party.
Gopal Shetty stated that he has sent letters to major leaders asking them to look into all of his properties and take necessary measures. I have also sent a letter to Devendra Fadnavis, demanding an investigation, confiscation of all my assets, and subsequent measures.
He also mentioned that North Mumbai takes pride in Piyush ji running for election in this constituency. Amit Shah will arrive on the 9th. I will ask all of you to greet him. The people of Borivali are proud that Amit Shah is visiting their town.
He mentioned that he will arrive once Article 370 is revoked in Kashmir, I urge all the workers and people to greet him. I achieve greatness through hard work, not by disrespecting others. The lotus in my heart and mind cannot be taken away. However, I am opposing certain leaders.
