The 2024 Lok Sabha election is done, and the results are out. Now, here’s what’s left to be done: swearing in the PM and forming a government. The oath of the Prime Minister of India will happen tonight at 7:15 p.m. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be taking the oath as PM.

Almost a week after the results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, India is set to receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a record third straight term. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections proved to be a strong competition for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The opposition bloc of INDIA and other parties won 99 seats (Congress), 37 seats (Samajwadi Party), 29 seats (All India Trinamool Congress), etc. Modi’s National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won the elections with the majority by winning 240 seats. Gaurenting Modi a third straight term in office.

Here’s Why This Ceremony Is Different

The oath-taking ceremony is different from other ceremonies in the history of Indian Prime Ministers. Here’s why: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was elected as the new PM for the first time in 2014. PM Modi was the 14th Prime Minister in the history of India. PM Modi won the elections again and was elected as the PM of India for the second time in 2019. This ceremony is different because Prime Minister Modi has been elected for the third time in a row.

Only the late former Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, was elected as the PM of India three times before PM Modi. PM Modi has equaled former PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, a feat no one was able to achieve except these two Prime Ministers. Because of this historic feat, this ceremony will be added to the history books of India.

PM Modi To Swear In Tonight

President Draupadi Murmu will be administering the oath of office and secrecy of the Prime Minister and other members of the Union Council of Ministers at 7:15 p.m. tonight. The oath-taking ceremony will happen at Rashtrapati Bhawan. A large number of dignitaries will be present for the special occasion. Due to the large number of leaders, security has been increased around Rashtrapati Bhawan. All eyes are on PM Modi, who will be taking the oath as PM for a third straight term.

Other Ministers Expected To Take Oaths Besides PM

Besides PM Modi, other ministers will also be taking oaths for various posts in the government. Some reports say that, instead of the entire council, only 30 to 40 ministers will be taking oaths. The council of ministers will likely have around 75- 81 leaders. It should be noted that the Bharatiya Janata Party is falling short of the majority. Because of this problem, there are chances that leaders from the alliance, including Chandrababu Naidu’s party, Nitish Kumar’s party, etc., be seen in the council.

Who Are Attending The Ceremony?

Leaders of the neighboring countries and other nations will be joining the oath-taking ceremony of Narendra Modi. At the time of writing, these leaders had arrived in Delhi: Sri Lanka’s President Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Maldives’ President Mohamed Muizzu, Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Seychelles’ Vice President Ahmed Afif, Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Nepal’s Prime Minister Kamal Dahal, and Mauritius’ Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.

Because of the presence of the prime ministers, presidents, and vice presidents of various countries, security has been multiplied. The Rastrapati Bhawan will have a three-tier security until June 11. The capital of India, Delhi, where Rashtrapati Bhawan is located, has been declared a no-fly zone to restrict and prohibit the use of drones and other flying devices.
