BJP has achieved a hat-trick in Haryana assembly elections by winning three consecutive times, setting a new record in the state. Seven exit polls suggested that Congress would secure 55 seats, exceeding the halfway mark of 45. Initially, Congress seemed on track or better to achieve this goal just two hours after counting began at 8 am. However, the situation swiftly changed in favor of the BJP.
BJP achieved its greatest success with victories in 48 constituencies while Congress won in 36. The outcome of a seat where the Congress was in the lead was still pending. Party supporters in New Delhi started celebrations outside the Congress headquarters before the counting began, with dancing and playing of dhols. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was confident that the BJP would win the election for the third consecutive term in Haryana assembly elections.
In the last decade, we have completed numerous development projects. The system established by ex-Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will keep delivering advantages to Haryana in the long run. Mr Saini, who assumed the role of chief minister in March following Mr Khattar, said it is our duty to continue this positive work, he told the press today. Once it became evident that the BJP would once again come into power in the state, Congress followers halted their celebrations and the saffron party’s offices began handing out sweets.
Senior BJP officials also convened at Mr Khattar’s home in New Delhi to talk about the formation of the government. The participants at the event consisted of Dharmendra Pradhan, who is in charge of the Haryana assembly elections., and the co-in-charge Biplab Kumar Deb. The Congress sent a letter to the Election Commission, expressing concern about a “mysterious delay” in updating the Haryana assembly election results.
“Imagine how this enables dishonest actors to create stories that sabotage the process.” Examples of this phenomenon can already be observed on social media. Jairam Ramesh, a senior leader of the Congress party, expressed concern that these dishonest actors could use these narratives to manipulate ongoing counting processes at most counting centers. The Election Commission rejected the accusations and mentioned that about 25 rounds in each constituency were being updated every five minutes.
The poll body firmly rejects Mr. Ramesh’s attempt to support baseless and malicious narratives. The Congress expressed concerns in the evening regarding possible manipulation of EVMs and announced plans to present a list of grievances to the Election Commission, stating their refusal to accept the results in Haryana.
