The election was held on Wednesday for 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra, while a unfortunate event occurred in Beed. A heart attack claimed the life of an independent candidate while voting was taking place in the Beed assembly seat. It is reported that the independent candidate goes by the name Balasaheb Shinde. The workers were shocked and an uproar ensued due to the candidate’s death.

Balasaheb Shinde ran as an independent candidate in the Beed, Maharashtra assembly constituency election. Based on the information received, Balasaheb Shinde was present at the polling station of Chhatrapati Shahu Vidyalaya in Beed city on the day of the election.

At the same time, he experienced dizziness and collapsed. Following this, the workers transported him to a private hospital located in Beed city.

However, the private hospital directed him to a different hospital. He was taken to a hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar for medical care, however he was pronounced dead by the doctors.

Authorities reported that a candidate running independently in Beed had a heart attack on Wednesday while in line to vote at a polling station in Maharashtra. Residents hurried him to the hospital, however, physicians pronounced him deceased upon arrival.

In accordance with the Representation of the People Act, 1951, should a candidate pass away during the election, voting for that particular seat can be delayed as per Section 52.

The Beed assembly seat used to be a strong support base for Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Following the division, Ajit Pawar leads a group within the NCP that has formed a coalition with the BJP and the Shiv Sena under Eknath Shinde.

The primary battle in Maharashtra is between the Mahayuti (led by BJP, Eknath Shinde’s faction and Ajit Pawar’s NCP) and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (led by Congress, Uddhav Thackeray’s faction and Sharad Pawar’s NCP) coalitions.
