On Sunday, the BJP unveiled its initial list of 99 candidates. Devendra Fadnavis, the Deputy Chief Minister of the state, has been chosen once more as the candidate for Nagpur South-West. 13 tickets have been given to women, and 71 MLAs have been granted another opportunity.
Only three MLAs have had their tickets issued. Six seats have been assigned SC tickets and four seats have been assigned JJ tickets on the list. Three MLAs not affiliated with any party will also run for office as part of the BJP this election. BJP is participating in the state elections in collaboration with Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and NCP led by Ajit Pawar.
Chandrashekhar Bawankule, the President of BJP in Maharashtra, has been awarded a nomination from Kamathi constituency. He was rejected in the recent election for his ticket. As per the BJP roster, Nitesh Rane, the son of ex-Union Minister Narayan Rane, will be running for election in Kankavli.
Chandrakant Patil, a member of the Shinde government, will run for the Kothrud seat once more. Sudhir Mungantiwar, despite his loss in the Lok Sabha election, will now run for office in Ballarpur. Anuradha Chavan received a ticket for the Phulambir constituency, which was previously held by Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde. Candidates have been announced for 16 positions in Mumbai city, with 14 of them being re-elected. Ashish Shelar, the President of Mumbai BJP, will once again contest from Vandre West, while Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha will run from Malabar Hill.
The BJP list includes a significant amount of relatives of leaders. Srijaya Chavan, the daughter of ex-CM Ashok Chavan, switched from Congress to BJP and secured a nomination for the Bhokar constituency. Similarly, Santosh Danve, the son of former Union Minister Raosaheb Danve, has been nominated for the Bhokardan seat.
Vinod Shelar, who is the brother of Ashish Shelar, the BJP President of Mumbai, has been nominated as a candidate from Bandra West. Pratibha, the spouse of MLA Babanrao Pachpute, who was jailed for shooting at a Shiv Sena leader, has been nominated from Shrigonda. The ticket of Ashwini, the wife of late MLA Laxman Jagtap, has been revoked in Chinchwad, while his brother Shankar Jagtap has been allocated the ticket instead.
