On Thursday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) declared that Atishi will take the oath of office as the new Chief Minister of Delhi on September 21st, accompanied by her cabinet. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena suggested this date in a letter to the President along with Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation. Following Tuesday’s announcement of Kejriwal’s resignation as chief minister, Atishi declared his intention to create a new Delhi administration. After Sheila Dikshit of the Congress and Sushma Swaraj of the Bharatiya Janata Party, she will be the third woman to serve as Chief Minister of Delhi (BJP).
In the Delhi Assembly, Atishi will have to demonstrate her majority during a session that is slated for September 26–27. She oversaw 14 important ministries in Kejriwal’s cabinet, including revenue, education, and finance. She was also heavily involved in managing the government when Kejriwal was imprisoned. According to AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) sources cited by news agency PTI, Atishi would chair the new Delhi Cabinet and all incumbent ministers will continue in their positions.
Imran Hussain, Gopal Rai, Kailash Gehlot, and Saurabh Bharadwaj will stay in their current roles. Additionally, it is anticipated that two new members may join the government: Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar and Karol Bagh MLA Vishesh Ravi are both possible candidates.
Following his detention for allegedly irregularities in Delhi’s liquor policy—a case that also involves former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia—Arvind Kejriwal resigned. After being granted bail, Sisodia—who had been detained for eighteen months—promised to compete for reelection. According to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is behind a “political conspiracy” that includes Sisodia’s incarceration.
Atishi has promised to keep working to get Kejriwal back in government. “I’ll strive for a single objective. She declared, “After her new position was disclosed, we have to appoint Arvind Kejriwal as the Chief Minister of Delhi once more.
