Atishi Marlena, who took over the position of Delhi Chief Minister on Tuesday, gets criticised by AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal. AAP politician Dilip Pandey urged Swati Maliwal to step down from the assembly after calling Atishi a “dummy CM”.

This comes after Swati Maliwal claimed that the parents of the Delhi Minister had submitted letters of mercy to overturn Afzal Guru’s death sentence for his 2001 Parliament attack conviction.

The Maliwal referred to Atishi as a “Dummy CM” and wished for Delhi’s protection. She then disclosed a supposedly letter that Atishi’s parents had written pleading for clemency.

Maliwal wrote on her X handle (formerly Twitter), “Today is a very sad day for Delhi. Today, a woman is being made the Chief Minister of Delhi whose family fought a long battle to save terrorist Afzal Guru from hanging. Her parents wrote mercy petitions to the Honourable President to save terrorist Afzal Guru. According to them, Afzal Guru was innocent and was framed as part of a political conspiracy.” Continuing on that she stated, “Although Atishi Marlena is just a ‘Dummy CM’, still this issue is related to the security of the country. May God protect Delhi!”

Maliwal was accused by Dilip Pandey of adopting the BJP’s platform, and he advised her to select the BJP route in order to be elected to the Rajya Sabha. He also made fun of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal’s article by saying, “Understand one thing. Swati Maliwal is a person who takes the ticket to Rajya Sabha from AAP but uses the script to react from BJP. If she has even a little shame, she should resign as a Rajya Sabha MP and choose the path to Rajya Sabha on a BJP ticket. If she wants to be in Rajya Sabha, she should get a ticket from the BJP.”

Maliwal and the AAP have been at odds since the incident began, with the former making grave accusations throughout the gathering. She hasn’t left the party and hasn’t been kicked out by AAP.
