Congress faced a significant blow on Thursday following the Haryana state elections. Ex-minister Captain Ajay Singh Yadav quit the primary membership of Congress, citing poor conduct. Upon my resignation, I expressed my disillusionment with the party leadership following Sonia Gandhi’s decision to step down as Congress President, citing their disrespectful behavior towards me. BJP was able to secure the backing of the OBC community. The departure of the OBC department president of Congress has dealt a heavy blow to the country’s oldest party.

Ajay Singh Yadav, who was a six-time Congress MLA, served as the party’s OBC department national president. Chiranjiv Rao, his son, was defeated by BJP’s Laxman Singh Yadav in Rewari by a margin of more than 28,000 votes. He was a formidable rival for the party nomination in the Gurugram parliamentary constituency, but the Congress chose to nominate Bollywood actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar. He was defeated by the BJP’s candidate.

According to political observer Ajay Kumar, The Tribune reported that if Ajay Singh Yadav’s resignation is approved, it will severely impact the Congress party’s efforts to strengthen its support in the area. Another political analyst, Naresh Chauhan, stated that the Congress’ chances in Ahirwal will be impacted by his departure from the party. An evaluation is required to determine the reasons behind his resignation.

On X, Ajay Singh Yadav mentioned Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi while discussing his tough choice to resign due to his family’s longstanding 70-year connection. My late father, Rao Abhay Singh, became an MLA in 1952, and I followed in his footsteps, but I am disheartened by the party leadership’s mistreatment of me after Sonia Gandhi resigned as Congress president.

In the past few years, Yadav is the third notable leader who has departed from the Congress party. Kuldeep Bishnoi and Kiran Choudhary, the remaining two, have also joined the BJP.

Ajay Singh Yadav recently stated that the dispute within Haryana Congress over the chief minister’s position prior to receiving the mandate was a significant error. He mentioned that Congress needs to reflect on its defeat in southern Haryana, particularly in Gurugram, Rewari, Mahendragarh, and Faridabad, where BJP won 10 seats compared to Congress’s one seat.

Ajay Singh Yadav was reportedly displeased with his party’s choice of candidates for the Haryana elections.
