Today, renowned filmmaker Karan Johar celebrates his 52nd birthday, a figure deeply admired for his impactful contributions to the romantic drama genre. Known for creating unforgettable movies like “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” and “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,” Karan has also garnered attention for his reflections, particularly his stance on marriage. In an insightful 2018 discussion with Firstpost, he expressed his feelings towards this subject.

Karan’s Take on Marriage

When questioned about his perspective on marriage, considering the changing legal views towards it, Karan disclosed that he believes the opportunity for such a commitment has passed him by. “It’s too late for me. At 46, it doesn’t seem realistic to start a relationship. I’m not being negative, just realistic. The thought of juggling a relationship with my duties to my mother and two kids is overwhelming. It’s not about neglecting one for the other, but more about focusing my time on my professional life and the relationships I already have. I’ve reached a stage where my relationship with myself is my priority, leaving little space for others,” Karan detailed.

A Glimpse into Karan’s Life Beyond the Screen

Although Karan has been entirely private about his relationships, his 2016 movie “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil,” which explores the complexity of unrequited love and stars Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai, and Fawad Khan, is often seen as a window into his soul.

In 2017, Karan took on the role of a parent, welcoming twins Yash and Roohi through surrogacy. He honoured his late father, the respected producer Yash Johar, who passed away in 2004 after a fight with cancer, by naming his son after him. Karan and his children and mother, Hiroo Johar, make his home in Mumbai.
