Debris being removed from the game zone site where a major fire on Saturday evening killed at least 27 people and injured three in Rajkot on May 26.

The Gujarat High Court took immediate action on Sunday, addressing the tragic fire at TRP Game Zone in Rajkot, which resulted in the loss of at least 27 lives on Saturday evening. The court will conduct a hearing on the matter on Monday, May 27. A directive concerning the safety regulations of game zones across the state is anticipated from the court, as per reports from ANI.

Among the deceased were four minors under 12 years old, highlighting the tragedy that unfolded as families were enjoying summer vacation activities. The fire caused a devastating loss of life and injuries.

In response to the incident, the Gujarat government established a five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the fire. The team, which arrived in Rajkot shortly after the incident, has begun its inquiry under the leadership of Additional Director General of Police Subhash Trivedi. Trivedi emphasized the importance of the investigation in preventing future tragedies and identifying those responsible.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined. Meanwhile, national leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have expressed their condolences. PM Modi has contacted Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to discuss rescue and relief operations. The Chief Minister announced financial assistance for the victim’svictims’ families and the injured.

Following the tragedy, Rajkot’s Police Commissioner Raju Bhargava emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire. He issued a directive for the temporary closure of local gaming zones. Furthermore, the state’s Director General of Police has ordered inspections across all game zones in Gujarat, mandating closure for those lacking proper fire safety measures in coordination with local fire department officials.
