On Friday, the cabinet of Jharkhand sanctioned a proposal to raise the limit of free electricity for domestic users from 125 units to 200 units monthly, as per an official announcement.

Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel, during a press briefing, communicated that the government would shoulder an added expense of approximately Rs 21.7 crore monthly due to this enhancement.

This uplift in the entitlement is poised to benefit around 414,000 consumers, Dadel noted.

The cabinet, in its meeting, ratified 40 propositions. Noteworthy among these is the inauguration of a unique compensation scheme aimed at the kin of state police and central forces who are casualties or sustain injuries in encounters.

The scheme stipulates a compensation of Rs 60 lakh for the family of personnel deceased in an encounter. Should personnel be injured, the expenses for their treatment will be covered by the state government.

Further approvals by the cabinet included the establishment of the Jharkhand State Faculty Development Academy to facilitate the execution of the National Education Policy, alongside sanctioning the CM Fellowship Scheme to foster academic brilliance.

Additionally, the cabinet consented to the Mukhyamantri Hospital Sanchalan Evam Rakhrakhaw Yojana, a program allocating annual funds to keep state-operated hospitals.
