In Ranchi, D Raja, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (C.P.I.), expressed his approval of the Jharkhand High Court’s decision to grant bail to ex-chief minister Hemant Soren, stating that this move is likely to foster unity among secular parties within the state.
During a press interaction at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport, Raja, who is visiting Jharkhand to attend an event organized by Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Mahasabha, a farmers’ group, he shared his views.
He highlighted the importance of Soren’s release from jail, emphasizing its positive impact on the cohesion of secular parties.
Raja further mentioned, “Our goal is to bring together all democratic secular parties into the I.N.D.I.A. bloc to stand against right-wing, communal, and fascist forces.
We’re also focusing on enhancing coordination among these parties inside Parliament.”
Soren, the executive president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (J.M.M.), was freed on Friday following the state high court’s bail grant in a money laundering case. The court ruled him not guilty and saw no risk of committing any offence while on bail.
Soren was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate (E.D.) on January 31 amid investigations into an illegal land possession case involving approximately 8.36 acres.
Regarding the controversy surrounding the NEET-UG examination, Raja disclosed that there have been calls for its cancellation due to alleged irregularities.
The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET-UG was conducted by the National Testing Agency on May 5, with about 24 million candidates participating.
Raja also criticized the current central government, accusing it of worsening the conditions of the economy, employment, farmers, and tribal communities through its ineffective governance and detrimental policies under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
