A terrorist attack on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway in Jammu and Kashmir has resulted in the deaths of seven individuals. The assault occured at a tunnel building location in Gagangir. The authorities have initiated an inquiry into this matter. Details are being obtained on approximately 50 individuals from the vicinity who are being summoned for interrogation.
It is claimed that all of these individuals come from Ganderbal district in central Kashmir. Police sources suggest that the attackers who targeted the workers may have been individuals from Pakistan who have infiltrated the country. Who arrived in the area from Bandipur.
The individuals targeted in the assault were workers employed by APCO Infratech, a company building the Z-Morh tunnel along the Srinagar-Sonmarg highway.
According to police sources, there is currently no believable information about the perpetrators of the attack, but they have apprehended suspects from various areas in the district.
A law enforcement official stated, “All suspects have been apprehended by each police station in the vicinity.” They are being interrogated to gather reliable leads in order to identify the perpetrator of the attack. According to police sources, there is a higher probability of more individuals being arrested.
Police sources have also confirmed that the assailants had recently entered the valley. Information from authorities indicates that survivors’ testimony confirms the attackers were not from the area. It is highly likely that the individuals were Pakistani terrorists who had recently crossed into the valley from the Gurez sector. A source indicated that the terrorists may have escaped into the woods following the assault.
Survivors reported that on Sunday evening, two men in woolen shawls arrived at the Z-Morh tunnel campsite and fired shots in several locations. Three individuals from Bihar were among the deceased, with one person each hailing from Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu. The deceased person also involved a doctor from Budgam in central Kashmir.
