A panel consisting of CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala, and Justice Manoj Mishra has requested the petitioner to provide information about the source of the tape and evidence to verify its authenticity.
This petition has been submitted by Kuki Organisation for Human Rights Trust. In this regard, the petitioner’s attorney stated that the video will be presented.
Advocate Prashant Bhushan, representing the petitioner, stated that the whistleblower had captured the conversation of CM Biren Singh.
The lawyer for the petitioner stated that during the discussion, he (Biren Singh) confessed to promoting extremism. In addition to this, he also safeguarded those who plundered arms. Prashant Bhushan inquired whether the Chief Minister permitted the plundering of arms and munitions.
The lawyer for the petitioner stated that the Lamba Commission was assigned to this case. The court is currently reviewing the Manipur case. This situation is not a typical one. Concurrently, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Central Government, opposed the petition. He stated that the petitioner’s aim is to maintain the fire.
He stated that the issue is currently being investigated. CM Biren Singh engaged in discussions with all Kuki MLAs to bring back peace in the state. The whistleblowers do not desire peace to be created in the state. The applicants ought to visit the High Court. At the conclusion of the case hearing, he raised an objection to the court’s ruling.
