A specific court in Mumbai has released a bailable warrant for the ex-BJP MP. On Wednesday, the court released a new bailable warrant for Pragya Thakur related to the 2008 Malegaon blast case. A warrant for her arrest has been issued due to her failure to appear in court. We would like to inform you that Pragya Thakur did not attend court due to health reasons.
The special court handling National Investigation Agency (NIA) cases has released a second warrant for Pragya Thakur within a month. Previously, the court had released a warrant for her on November 5 due to her absence from the court sessions. She was now instructed to show up in court on November 13.
Subsequently, the judge once more instructed action to be taken against Pragya Thakur and ordered the issuance of a fresh bailable warrant for her. She was instructed to show up in court on December 2.
The trial for the Malegaon blast case has reached its concluding phase, and the court has required all defendants to attend daily hearings regularly.
An explosion occurred in Malegaon city on 29 September 2008. In the explosion, six individuals perished and over 100 were hurt.
Pragya Thakur, Lt. Col. Prasad Purohit, and five other individuals are on trial for their supposed roles in the bombing conspiracy. The defendants have been indicted under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) Maharashtra was initially looking into the case, but in 2011, the investigation was taken over by the NIA.
