On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Igas Bagwal festival at the home of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Anil Baluni in Delhi. The Igas Bagwal festival is observed extensively in Uttarakhand, occurring 11 days post-Diwali. It is referred to as Budhi Diwali as well. In this context, PM Modi extended his congratulations to the people of the country on Igas Bagwal and wished all individuals joy, prosperity, and well-being in their lives during this celebration.
PM Modi tweeted, ‘Hearty congratulations to all the citizens, including my family from Uttarakhand, on the Igas festival.’ In Delhi, I also had the honor of taking part in this festival at the home of Anil Baluni ji, Lok Sabha MP representing Uttarakhand. I hope this festival brings joy, success, and good health to all.
Prime Minister Modi donned the traditional cap of Uttarakhand and welcomed the sadhus and saints gathered at Baluni’s home. During this event, Prime Minister Modi prayed to the Tulsi plant, ignited the Igas flame, and conducted Aarti. The Igas festival is observed to honor Goddess Nanda Devi, celebrating themes of harvest, fertility, and prosperity.
Earlier today, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended his congratulations to the state’s residents on the celebration of the Igas festival and the traditional Diwali. CM Dhami expressed, ‘Warm congratulations and best wishes to everyone in the state on Igas-Budhi Diwali, representing the rich cultural legacy of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. I ask God to let the lives of each of you shine with the brightness of joy and eagerness. Come, let us all in this Igas vow our faith, love, and commitment to our traditions.
