Devendra Singh Rana, the current MLA representing Nagrota assembly constituency in the Jammu region, passed away during the late hours of Thursday (31 October). Sources have reported that his death occurred in Delhi. PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti mourned the passing of Devendra Singh Rana. She took to social media platform X and expressed her shock upon hearing the news of Devendra Rana ji’s death. She offered her sympathies to him as well.
Devendra Singh Rana passed away at a Faridabad hospital. Sajid Yusuf, a spokesperson for the BJP, described Rana as a significant political figure in Jammu and Kashmir. The death of him has left BJP and its supporters in a state of shock.
Devendra Rana has established himself in the political arena of Jammu and Kashmir. After a decade, he secured a huge win on a BJP ticket from the Nagrota seat in the valley’s assembly elections.
He received 48113 votes, whereas Joginder Singh from the National Conference only obtained 17641 votes. By doing this, Devendra Rana not only preserved his reputation but also secured a victory for the party with over 30 thousand votes.
Devendra Rana was also quite successful in the business world. Furthermore, he had also established himself in the field of politics. He had a strong grip on the Nagrota constituency. He has served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Rana Nagrota seat on three occasions. Devendra Singh Rana was a member of the National Conference, however, in 2021, he caused a major setback to the NC by leaving the party and joining the BJP. After he became a member of the BJP, Devendra Singh Rana achieved victory in the 2024 assembly elections for the first time, securing the Nagrota seat for the party.
