In response to this event, the Ministry of External Affairs vehemently protested, stating that it has revealed Canada’s hypocrisy. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that Canada only pretends to support free speech.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated that when assistance was requested from Canada for the protection of Indian counselors and diplomats, the Canadian government declined it. Indian diplomats were monitored in that location, which is inappropriate and intolerable. The Foreign Minister has already issued a statement regarding this matter. The Prime Minister has voiced his worries regarding the assaults on Hindus in Canada and has called for a response from the authorities there.
The representative stated that External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is presently in Australia. There, he encountered the Australian Foreign Minister, and the two leaders talked about global peace and peace initiatives. Jaishankar informed the Australian minister that India is prepared to offer any necessary assistance. He organized a round table meeting with the CEOs of multiple companies in Australia to discuss various matters related to the India-Australia Framework Dialogue.
While visiting, he participated in an interview with Australia Today channel, where he discussed the assaults on Hindus in Canada. Following the airing of this interview, the Canadian government prohibited the channel.
Regarding the trade relations between India and the United States, the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs stated that last year, the trade between India and America amounted to 190 billion dollars. He mentioned that efforts will persist in enhancing the economic ties between India and America. Regarding the visa policy, it pertains to mobility and migration, and is included in the bilateral discussions between the two governments.
The Ministry of External Affairs also stated that Donald Trump’s rise to power will not impact India-Canada relations. This is a situation involving both countries, and no other nation is involved. The representative stated that Indians residing unlawfully in America ought to return. India likewise rejects unlawful migration and advocates for legal migration.
The Ministry of External Affairs voiced its worry regarding the assaults on the Hindu community in Bangladesh following the shift in leadership. The representative mentioned that inflammatory remarks were directed towards Hindus on social media and assaults occurred against them.
India has called on the Bangladesh government to address the extremist factions present, to prevent any conflict between the two communities. India also stated that it is the duty of the Bangladesh government to guarantee the safety of the Hindu community. There have been instances of looting Hindu properties there, which are deserving of condemnation.
The representative stated that the Joint Secretary of India traveled to Afghanistan and engaged with high-ranking officials and leaders in the country.
