Political tensions have intensified in Punjab concerning the assembly by-election. All the political parties have begun campaigning energetically. If there’s one seat that is receiving the most attention in the by-election, it is the Gidderbaha seat. A triangular competition is being observed here. In this contest, Congress has nominated Amrita Waring, the wife of Ludhiana MP and Punjab President Raja Waring, while Aam Aadmi Party has put forth Dimpy Dhillon and the BJP has chosen former minister Manpreet Singh Badal.
Throughout the election campaign, Manpreet Singh Badal made a statement that has once again brought to mind the farmers’ movement in Punjab. In an interview with a media outlet, BJP candidate Manpreet Singh Badal stated that when he encountered Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he lowered his head and expressed that he regards Punjab as paramount. BJP official Amit Malviya has additionally posted a video of this.
Manpreet Singh Badal, discussing the farmers’ movement, added that when the farmers took down the tricolour from the Red Fort and raised the Nishan Sahib, Prime Minister Narendra Modi contacted Union Home Minister Amit Shah and advised him against shooting on sight, stating there is no distinction between the tricolour and Nishan Sahib.
He also asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned to Amit Shah that Nishan Sahib belongs to us too. If shots are fired, it will leave a mark on my brow. Consequently, gunshots must not be aimed at the farmers ascending the Red Fort.
Manpreet Badal stated that the Prime Minister informed him that the Congress had stationed tanks at Darbar Sahib, yet the people of Punjab pardoned them. We haven’t done anything; we are unaware of what the Punjabis are saying about us. My posters are worn out from giving shoes to toddlers aged 2.
