In Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, a 42-year-old man who worked as an area manager for Bajaj Finance committed suicide. In a note, Tarun Saxena said that for the previous two months, his supervisors had been pressuring him to reach his goals and threatening to withhold money from his pay. Bajaj Finance has not yet addressed the accusations.
This morning Tarun’s body was discovered by the housekeeper. His spouse and their two kids were kept in a separate room. His spouse Megha, kids Yatharth and Pihu, and parents all survive him.
Tarun penned a five-page letter to his wife expressing his extreme worry at not meeting his goals even after making every effort. Tarun was assigned the responsibility of gathering Bajaj Finance loan EMIs from his local area, but he was unable to meet his goals because of a number of problems. He added that he was concerned about losing his job. He wrote that he was often made fun of by his seniors. “I am anxious about what is ahead. My ability to think is gone. I’m heading out.”
According to Tarun, he and his associates were forced to cover the EMIs they were unable to recoup from their region. He claimed that he had constantly highlighted the challenges faced in rehabilitation with his seniors, but they were not ready to listen to him. “It’s been 45 days since I last slept. I haven’t had much to eat. I’m dealing with a lot of stress. I’m under pressure from senior bosses to quit or meet targets at any costs.”
In his letter, Tarun also expressed his regret to his family and that he had paid his kids’ tuition till the end of the year. “You all look after Yatharth, Pihu, and Megha. I have never asked for anything before, but I’m doing it now, Mama and Papa. So that my family can live comfortably, please have the second storey constructed,” he said.
He advised his kids to look after their mother and do well in school. He requested his family to see to it that his family received the insurance proceeds. In addition, he mentioned his seniors and requested that his family file a police report against them. “They are responsible for my decision.”
Gaurav Saxena, Tarun’s cousin who lives close by, claimed he was under pressure to boost debt recovery. “At a video conference at 6 am today, his seniors built the mental pressure. They said he cannot work and he must be sacked. He has named them in his suicide note.”
According to senior police official Vinod Kumar Gautam, the post-mortem note is on its way. “The suicide note says his seniors were pressuring him over the targets. If we get a complaint from the family, we will take action.”
