According to people with knowledge of the situation, India evacuated an injured Indian soldier from Tel Aviv on Thursday and brought him to the Army Hospital (Research and Referral) in New Delhi for additional treatment, as Israel gets ready for a ground invasion in Lebanon amid escalating regional tensions.

However, the lawsuit has nothing to do with the present conflict in Lebanon between Israel and Hezbollah.

Havildar Suresh R, a 33-year-old soldier, was working with the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in the Golan Heights when he was involved in an accident that left him with a significant brain injury. UNDOF’s duty encompasses overseeing the disengagement of Syrian and Israeli soldiers as well as upholding the truce between the two countries.

He was flown in a C-130J air ambulance to India.

“In a remarkable display of synergy, the Indian Armed Forces, supported by the #MoD successfully conducted a critical medical evacuation of Havildar Suresh R. On 20 Sept 2024, the individual suffered grievous injuries in the line of duty and was transferred to a #UN hospital in #Israel,” the Indian soldier posted on X.

However, the army stated that it was decided to remove him to India since his condition required more medical attention.

“A team of Army Medical Corps #AMC in close collaboration with #IAF, #IDS & #DMA, in a highly coordinated mission, not only ensured that the injured soldier was evacuated amidst an extremely uncertain situation, but also provided state of the art critical care support en route to the patient,” it further stated.

Lieutenant Colonel Anuj Singh commanded the medical team during the emergency air evacuation.
