In Jammu and Kashmir, two soldiers and two civilian porters lost their lives after terrorists attacked an army vehicle in Baramulla district on Thursday. Three additional soldiers sustained injuries. Authorities reported that terrorists shot at a Rashtriya Rifles (RR) vehicle in the evening at Nagin Chowk in the Buta Pathri region close to Gulmarg ski resort. This incident occurred in the valley in a region usually believed to be free of terrorism. Places such as Gulmarg and Buta Pathri in the higher parts are packed with visitors and this destination is adored by those who enjoy nature.
Earlier on Thursday, terrorists in the Tral area of Pulwama district shot and wounded Shubham Kumar, a laborer from Uttar Pradesh. This marks the third assault on migrant workers in Jammu and Kashmir in the past seven days. On October 18, Ashok Kumar Chauhan, a laborer from Bihar, was killed by gunshots. A group of employees from an infrastructure company was ambushed in Ganderbal on Sunday, October 20.
The assault on the military vehicle in Gulmarg occurred while Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was in New Delhi for a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Abdullah informed Prime Minister Modi about the law and order situation in the Union Territory. During a meeting lasting around 30 minutes, Modi presented the cabinet’s proposal to confer statehood onto Jammu and Kashmir in the near future. Omar additionally encountered Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
The attack was condemned by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. On X, he reported unfortunate news of an attack on Army vehicles in North Kashmir’s Buta Pathri area, resulting in casualties and injuries. The string of terror attacks happening in Kashmir is cause for serious worry.
On Sunday, a private infrastructure company’s workers’ camp in the Gagangir area of Ganderbal district was targeted by terrorists. Two foreign terrorists carried out a cowardly attack that resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including six non-local workers and a local doctor.
The assault targeted uninvolved, nonviolent laborers building a tunnel at Z-Morh on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway, which, once finished, would keep the Srinagar-Sonmarg road accessible year-round and allow Sonamarg to welcome tourists throughout the year.
