Recently, on June 21, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the cancellation of the CSIR UGC-NET exam. After the cancellation of the exam, the education or examination system of the country seems to be in absolute turmoil.
The Joint Council of Scientific and National Research (CSIR) and the University Grants Commission (UGC) postponed the National Eligibility Test (NET) exam. The exam was scheduled to be conducted between June 25 to June 27, 2024, but is now postponed. The NTA will later announce the revised schedule.
The Education Ministry previously canceled the UGC-NET exam on June 19. The Ministry canceled the exam to ensure the transparency and integrity of the exam. To know more about the UGC-NET exam cancellation, read this article. This makes CSIR UGC-NET the second exam to be canceled within a week.
Why Was The Exam Canceled?
In a press release, the NTA announced the reason for postponing the exam. The NTA announced that they postponed the exam as a result of unavoidable circumstances and logistical issues. The NTA will share the new exam dates later on the official website https://csirnet.nta.ac.in.
In a statement, the NTA said, “The candidates are hereby informed that the Joint CSIR-UGC-NET Examination June 2024 which was scheduled to be held between 25.06.2024 to 27.06.2024 is being postponed due to unavoidable circumstances as well as logistic issues.”
What Is The Joint CSIR UGC-NET Examination?
This exam determines eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Lectureship/Assistant Professor posts in universities and colleges. Like the UGC-NET exam, the CSIR UGC-NET exam is also conducted twice a year, in June and December. The exam covers five science subjects: Life Science, Earth Science, Physical Science, Chemical Science, and Mathematics. Whereas, UGC-NET covers all humanities subjects.
The Joint CSIR UGC-NET Fellowship is a fixed-term award. JRF-qualified candidates receive a stipend of ₹31,000 per month for the first two years and an annual grant of ₹20,000.
