Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, issued a directive on Tuesday requiring all food centers to have the names and addresses of operators, proprietors, and managers prominently displayed. The decision was made in the wake of state complaints of urine being mixed with and spilt into food.
In addition to installing CCTV in the hotels and restaurants, Yogi Adityanath reportedly demanded that the waiters and chefs wear masks and gloves.
The chief minister, Yogi Adityanth ordered harsh punishment against individuals who adulterate food items with human waste during a high-level meeting in Lucknow, branding the presence of human waste in food waste as “disgusting”.
After a rumored video of a youngster spitting on rotis as the eatery was making them went viral on September 12, an eating establishment in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was placed under arrest.
A Ghaziabad juice seller was detained last week on suspicion of giving clients fruit juice that had been tampered with with pee. Two males were detained by police in Noida in June on suspicion of peddling juice tainted with their spits.
“Dhabas, restaurants and food establishments should be thoroughly investigated and police verification of every employee should be done and necessary amendments should also be made in the Food Safety and Standards Act to ensure the purity and sanctity of food items,” said Yogi Adityanth according to PTI.
Yogi Adityanath stated that incidences of adulterating food items with unclean objects and human feces had been observed in several regions of the country recently, including juice, lentils, and roti.
“Such incidents are gruesome and have an adverse effect on the health of the common man. Such efforts cannot be accepted at all,” he further added.
