Virendra Sachdeva has been hospitalized at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital due to a decline in his health. He is experiencing itching in addition to respiratory issues. Virendra Sachdeva stated that he does not have any previous occurrences of respiratory issues or skin irritation. This is the first time he has ever been afflicted with this illness.
On Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Party criticized ex-Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for not meeting his commitment to clean the polluted Yamuna River by 2025, after immersing themselves in its waters. Sachdeva stated that by immersing in the Yamuna that day, he not only expressed regret for the dishonesty and wrongdoing of the Kejriwal administration regarding Yamuna’s cleanup, but also promised to establish a Yamuna Cleaning Authority if they win in February 2025. The political party set up a stage for Kejriwal and Atishi, complete with two VIP chairs.
Before the Chhath festival in the east, which comes shortly after Diwali, the Atishi administration and the Bharatiya Janata Party are pointing fingers at each other for the severe pollution and toxic foam in the river. Virendra Sachdeva, the head of Delhi BJP, demanded that the Aam Aadmi Party government explain how the Rs 8,500 crore allocated by the central government for Yamuna cleaning was being utilized.
Simultaneously, Delhi government official Saurabh Bhardwaj responded by stating that industrial waste enters the Yamuna River from the drainage systems of Panipat and Sonipat. This fact has also been verified by the NGT. No sector in Delhi is accountable for this garbage. If Sachdeva is sincere, he must address this matter with the Haryana government.
On October 22, VK Saxena, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, exacerbated the situation by posting pictures of toxic foam in the Yamuna river and encouraged officials to act rather than give excuses. He uploaded an image and captioned it, “These images of the Yamuna from this morning display the worsening state.” Instead of pointing fingers, our main priority should be offering assistance to the people of Delhi, particularly those who are celebrating Chhath Puja and observing fasting.
