On Sunday, Swami Govinddev Giri, treasurer of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust, stated that it is inaccurate to label political battles as vote jihad. He stated that labeling political disagreements in such a manner is incorrect. The Hindu community needs to resist it. His response has been expressed while the political climate in Maharashtra is intense regarding this matter.
In the run-up to the Maharashtra assembly elections, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is outspoken about the issue of vote jihad. He has launched an assault on it and advocated for retaliating with a holy crusade. At the same time, a Hindu guru mentioned that while pamphlets were previously handed out, now slogans promoting “vote jihad” are being openly distributed.
Hindu saint Swami Govinddev Giri told reporters that in the past, guidance on voting choices was provided through the distribution of pamphlets from religious institutions. However, slogans promoting voting as a form of religious duty are now being openly promoted. He stated that it is the duty and privilege of all citizens to vote. Describing a political conflict as a war is not accurate.
He stated that labeling the conflict between two political parties as a war is incorrect. However, there is open advocacy of vote jihad, so the Hindu community must resist it without any hesitation. The Hindu saint stated that every individual possesses the privilege of voting.
Previously, an Islamic scholar reportedly called for vote jihad against the BJP-led Mahayuti government. In light of this, Fadnavis urged for a campaign to combat the issue. All assembly seats in Maharashtra will be voted for in a single phase on November 20.
Before the Maharashtra assembly elections, Devendra Fadnavis showed a video of Sajjad Nomani, an Islamic scholar, at some rallies in Pune. Throughout this time, he stated that a phrase similar to vote-jihad was brought up. Vote-jihad is gaining momentum in the upcoming assembly elections in two to three days.
