External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar participated in an event held in Mumbai on Sunday. On this occasion, he discussed India-US relations following the recent presidential elections in the United States. Jaishankar stated that following President Donald Trump’s victory, numerous nations are worried about U.S. policy, but India does not share those concerns. He conveyed assurance that, owing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s positive connections with US Presidents, the ties between India and America will continue to be robust.

In his speech, Jaishankar commended PM Modi’s relationship with various US presidents. He also mentioned that Modi has upheld strong relationships with Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden throughout his time in office. Jaishankar highlighted that PM Modi’s skill in building strong connections with world leaders has been advantageous for India.

Jaishankar further noted that one of the initial three calls Trump made following his win was to PM Modi, highlighting the significance of India-US relations.

Jaishankar highlighted India’s economic progress, stating that India is currently the fifth largest economy globally and will reach the third largest economy by the decade’s end. He also mentioned that India has seen a substantial rise in exports and foreign investments over the past ten years. Jaishankar stated that foreign policy is focusing on economic diplomacy, which supports national development and security.

In relation to India’s progress, Jaishankar emphasized that ‘self-reliant India’ serves as a crucial foundation for the nation’s development. He mentioned that India must enhance high technology and bolster its research and innovation abilities. Jaishankar stated that India can only stay competitive on a global scale if it strengthens its technology and boosts industrial output. To achieve this, he emphasized the significance of fostering industrial culture and independence.
