The Mohan government in Madhya Pradesh is consistently striving to enhance health services. In relation to this, there is news that a new medical college will soon be established in Ujjain district of MP. The Bhoomi Pujan will be conducted shortly by the state leader Dr. Mohan Yadav. He has provided numerous crucial details on this matter. Dr. Mohan Yadav, CM, stated that enhancing healthcare services in Madhya Pradesh is the state government’s main focus. Prime Minister Narendra Modi thinks that a self-sufficient and powerful India can only be built upon the health of its citizens.
CM Mohan mentioned that the state government is working ceaselessly to offer accessible and advanced medical services to all citizens in order to fulfill Prime Minister Modi’s vision. The state is advancing towards making new history on November 21. When the Chief Minister conducts the Bhoomi Pujan of Ujjain Medical College, it will elevate the state’s health services to new levels. CM Mohan stated that the project will be given top priority considering the requirements of Simhastha-2028. This will offer top-notch medical care to the patients in Ujjain and nearby districts.
The CM elaborated by saying that before 2003, there were just 5 government medical colleges in the state, but now there are 17. The number of MBBS seats in the state has grown from 720 to 2,575. In addition to the medical colleges being built in Sheopur, Singrauli, Mandla, and Rajgarh, medical colleges are being set up in Chhatarpur, Damoh, and Budhni with funding from private sources. Additionally, there is an ongoing initiative to establish medical colleges in 12 other districts through the public participation policy.
The Chief Minister stated that the creation of 20 additional medical colleges will raise the number of MBBS seats by over 2,000. Super specialty hospitals are operating in Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, and Rewa in addition to the expansion of hospital bed capacity to 2,500 in Bhopal and Gwalior. He mentioned that programs such as School of Excellence in Pulmonary Medicine in Jabalpur and School of Excellence for Eye in Indore are positioning the state as a frontrunner in the medical sector.
Nursing colleges are being set up in 14 medical colleges to encourage nursing and paramedical education. Currently, there are 24 government nursing colleges in operation, with plans to expand to 37 in the near future. Approximately 25,000 students are currently enrolled in 250 paramedical schools within the state. Furthermore, Madhya Pradesh is the sole state in the nation where medical studies have commenced in Hindi.
The community health centers in the state are receiving upgraded medical equipment to offer top-notch health services like district hospitals, as stated by the CM. Additionally, over 30,000 medical and paramedical positions will be filled based on Indian Public Health Standard (IPHS) guidelines. He stated that a self-sufficient Madhya Pradesh can only be achieved through a population of healthy individuals.
Ujjain Medical College will be constructed on a 14.97-acre plot of land. The designated construction zone covers 142,034 square meters.
The overall expense amounts to Rs 592.3 crore. Modern technologies are utilized for fire safety, LED lights for energy efficiency, solar power, and energy-efficient HVAC systems are used. Additionally, there is a sewage treatment plant included, along with rainwater harvesting and recycling of wastewater. The medical school is equipped with amenities such as a pedestrian bridge, library structure, service section, MGPS section, and ESS section.
