Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Vinay Saxena has given a significant present to the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. On Thursday, LG VK Saxena awarded appointment letters to 47 survivors of the anti-Sikh riots. Simultaneously, 6 more appointment letters will be given to the descendants of the recipients who have exceeded the service age. This information has been provided in a formal declaration.

Vinay Saxena distributed these appointment letters to the victims of the riots during a program held in the Tilak Vihar neighborhood of West Delhi. While doing this, he mentioned that the verification of 437 pending appointment applications is underway. The majority of the individuals affected by the 1984 Sikh riots reside in Tilak Nagar. Simultaneously, the Delhi LG instructed to arrange special camps to speed up the resolution of the issues faced by the victims.

As per the announcement, Vinay Saxena, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, instructed the Revenue Department to arrange special camps in order to speed up the resolution of issues faced by the victims of the riot. Saxena stated that the colony, known as Widow Colony, will be given a new name according to the suggestions of the people living there. He also gave his approval to a proposal that requested easing recruitment requirements for the family members of the victims.

He mentioned that the 1984 riots tarnished Indian democracy. As per the statement, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee had requested the Lieutenant Governor last month to review the applications of all qualified candidates. The Gurdwara Management Committee’s provided applications also cover beneficiaries’ heirs who surpassed the age limit or passed away.

The lieutenant governor announced that 47 Sikh victims of the 1984 protest riots were offered appointment letters after a relaxation in recruitment qualifications. Additionally, the department must quickly process the 437 remaining applications that need to be verified. He mentioned that for these families, their work is not only a job but also a reflection of their lives, providing them with a new beginning and a sense of pride. It represents a way of showing gratitude.

He expressed satisfaction at finally being able to offer appointment letters to the victims after a 40-year delay caused by government negligence. The agony of losing loved ones in this horrific event cannot be lessened. However, sympathy and compassion towards the victims can definitely aid in healing those wounds.
