Hindu and Sikh protesters gathered in large numbers on Sunday outside the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi to demonstrate against the assault by a pro-Khalistan group on a Hindu temple in Brampton, Canada. Security at the Canadian High Commission was reinforced following calls for a protest from several Hindu organizations.

With law and order as a priority, Delhi Police erected multiple layers of barricades outside the Canadian High Commission and deployed a significant number of police personnel. Nonetheless, it appeared to be unproductive. The demonstrators scaled the barriers and even overthrew them. They shouted slogans and held placards in their hands. It was stated that Hindus and Sikhs stand together, and Indians will not accept the disrespect of Hindu temples in Canada.

Shaheed Bhagat Singh Seva Dal chief Jitender Singh Shanti stated that an entire generation was devastated during the era of terrorism, as many were either killed or forced to migrate to different countries. They then brought in drugs to destroy the lives of our youth. Upon observing Punjab’s prosperity, they began religious conversions, and now, the trend of attacking temples has emerged.

This is incorrect and regrettable. We are here to inform you that we are united. A genuine Sikh can never become a Khalistani. If they desire an independent nation, they ought to confine it to their own people. We desire that our tricolour and our nation receive respect at all times. Sikhs in India align with India and reject support for Khalistan.

On November 4, Khalistanis focused on several Hindu temples in Canada. In addition to this, besides defacing the temples, Khalistanis also assaulted individuals from the Hindu community. PM Modi also criticized this occurrence and denounced it forcefully. He also urged Justin Trudeau to take action concerning the assault on Hindu temples. Following this, four suspects have been apprehended by the Canadian police in connection with the temple attack.
