The Delhi High Court has moved 256 judges from the higher and lower courts of the judiciary in the national capital. 233 judicial officers have been assigned to different positions in the Delhi Judicial Service while 23 have been reassigned in the Delhi Higher Judicial Service. This also involves the judge who presided over the trial of ex-BJP MP and Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

Two different notifications regarding the relocation of judges were released by the Delhi High Court on October 25. In addition to the transfer, these appointments also involve the assignment of approximately 70 judicial officers to different districts after they finish their training. The notification announced that the Chief Justice and Judges of this Court have made changes in the Delhi Judicial Service placements and reassignments without delay.

On Friday, the Delhi High Court’s Registrar General also released a notification for the Higher Judicial Service. As per the roster, Additional Sessions Judge Jitendra Singh has been reassigned to Rouse Avenue as Special Judge. After Special Judge Rakesh Syal retired, the court was empty.

Justice Rakesh Syal presided over a dedicated court for handling cases involving lawmakers. This involved legal proceedings against ex-Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party legislator Amanatullah Khan. In this court, there was a case involving Congress leader Jagdish Tytler and his connection to the Sikh riots.

Simultaneously, Special Judge (POCSO) Chhabi Kapoor of Patiala House Court has been moved to Rouse Avenue Court as Special Justice. The cancellation report in the POCSO case against former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is being heard by the Patiala House Court. Special Judge Chhabi Kapoor has been substituted by Additional Sessions Judge Gomti Manocha. The lawsuit involving female wrestlers and the ex-president of the Wrestling Federation of India is currently before this court.
