During a new power struggle in Delhi, Chief Minister Atishi stated that the ruling AAP may have “big bungalows” but her party resides in the “hearts of the people of Delhi”, against the BJP. She accused the BJP of trying to take over the chief minister’s residence, stating that AAP leaders did not enter politics for personal comforts and are willing to govern from the streets if necessary.

The BJP is concerned about their inability to win against us in elections. When it is unable to establish the government, it initiates ‘Operation Lotus’ and subsequently incarcerates the leaders. Currently, there are considerations of taking over the residence of the Chief Minister. We did not get into politics to reside in large mansions. “If necessary, we will govern while sitting on the streets, we are deeply ingrained in the hearts of the people of Delhi,” she said.

There was an increase in activity at the Flagstaff Road bungalows following the release of photos by the AAP showing Atishi reviewing documents at her Kalkaji home with boxes around her. The BJP alleged that the party was engaging in “theatrics” and using the “victim mentality” to garner sympathy.

According to the AAP, Atishi was allegedly forced to leave the 6 Flagstaff Road bungalow on Wednesday (October 9), but the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) stated that she later moved back to her personal home with her belongings once the CM’s residence was sealed. “Women in India are honored during Navratri, but the BJP decided to evict a woman from her home,” stated AAP leader Sidharth Sharma.

The Aam Aadmi Party criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party for sharing Atishi’s images one day later, asserting that the BJP cannot diminish her dedication to serving the people of Delhi. During a press briefing, Atishi alleged that the BJP was trying to take over the “Chief Minister’s residence”.

Her statement pointed out that the BJP’s inability to emerge victorious against the AAP in elections was causing frustration, leading them to take desperate actions. She further mentioned that the AAP was not interested in politics for the sake of acquiring cars and bungalows. If the BJP achieves peace by occupying the CM house, they can have it. We are not in politics for the purpose of obtaining bungalows or cars. She mentioned that AAP ministers and MLAs are prepared to work on the streets if needed.

The BJP stated that, in contrast to the AAP’s claims, the Flagstaff Road bungalow is not the Delhi CM’s official residence. According to Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, the government bungalow where Arvind Kejriwal lived as the chief minister is similar to others. He dared the AAP government to demonstrate that the bungalow was designated as the official residence of the CM. We do not have any issues if Atishi chooses to reside there. “He said it must be done following the regulations,” he stated.

Vijender Gupta, Leader of Opposition in the Delhi assembly, accused Atishi of using the “victim card” and claimed that the photographs showing her working surrounded by empty boxes are just a new act by the Aam Aadmi Party.

Gupta went to the AB-17 bungalow on Mathura Road, which was given to Atishi last year when she became a minister. He mentioned that she was allotted a bungalow in her name on Mathura Road, which was previously utilized by Sheila Dikshit during her 10-year tenure as the chief minister of Delhi. He further commented that Atishi could work from her office at the Delhi Secretariat, but she is simply trying to garner sympathy by posing with empty boxes.

This bungalow on Flagstaff Road has been in the news before, not the first time. The BJP previously waged a campaign accusing Kejriwal of corruption during his time as CM while reconstructing. The term “sheesh mahal” was created by the party to describe the expensive interiors and fixtures in the house. Sachdeva claimed that due to Kejriwal’s desire to prevent the exposure of the “corruption of sheesh mahal,” the AAP is eager to acquire the Flagstaff Road bungalow.
