India and China have come to a new agreement on patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). A statement has been issued by the Ministry of External Affairs regarding this matter. At the same time, China has also made a significant announcement regarding the agreement. China announced on Tuesday that an agreement has been reached on pertinent issues by both parties. As per the news agency PTI’s report, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian announced that both parties have now come to a resolution on important issues that China is excited to discuss.

The conflict between the Chinese and Indian troops occurred in Galwan in June of 2020. Relations between India and China deteriorated following the military standoff. However, now both nations have reached a consensus on removing troops and implementing a patrolling mechanism along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri declared this on Monday prior to the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the beginning of the two-day BRICS summit in Kazan, starting on Tuesday.

In the future, China will collaborate with India to put these proposals into action. Lin Jian stated at a Beijing press conference that China and India have been engaging in discussions at both diplomatic and military levels regarding border issues.

During the meeting between PM Modi and President Xi Jinping, Jian mentioned that they will provide further information if any new developments occur. Agreements have been made on patrol arrangements along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the border areas between India and China. “We will address the problems that came up in these regions in 2020 and move forward with the next phase.”

Additionally, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar stated that it can be confirmed that the withdrawal of troops with China has been finished. He stated that the agreement has reinstated the previous process, returning the situation to how it was before 2020.
