In Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh, security forces thwarted a significant Naxalite plan last Sunday. The Naxalites had placed a 4 kg IED meal bomb on the side of the road to target the security forces. The BDS team successfully neutralized this during a search mission.
This event occurred in Chunchun Pundag, a region severely affected by Naxalites that borders the district, where the Naxals attempted to cause harm to the security forces as part of a plot. Nevertheless, law enforcement has officially documented a crime and launched an investigation to locate the unidentified Naxals.
As per the details provided, the situation revolves around Pundag, near the Samari Path police station area in the district. A CRPF camp has been established nearby for two years, with ongoing police efforts to combat Naxalite activities. Despite this, there have been repeated instances of Naxalites targeting and threatening security forces. Likewise, the Naxalites attempted to harm security forces by planting a 4 kg Eid Tiffin bomb, but their plans were unsuccessful once again. The security personnel thwarted their plans.
In fact, both Chunchuna Pundag and Subah from the police station area of Samari Path have been enduring Naxal attacks for an extended period. In this scenario, the police department has set up a CRPF camp in the district to eradicate Naxals. A sustained effort is being made to combat Naxals, causing them to flee the area. Simultaneously, Naxals are plotting to harm security personnel by planting IED bombs. This time it was also attempted but success was not attained.
Budha Pahar, located on the boundary of Balrampur district and Jharkhand, has been known as a stronghold of Naxalites for many years. Naxalites had instilled so much fear in this region that individuals found it challenging to leave their homes even in the daytime. Naxalites have previously conducted numerous incidents in this area, but the establishment of security force camps has nearly put an end to their movement here.
Providing details on the incident, the district’s Naxal Operation Additional Superintendent of Police Shailendra Pandey stated that they were informed by an informant about the planting of an IED bomb. The BDS team promptly arrived at the location and successfully deactivated the bomb. The bomb was planted by the CRPF at a short distance. Currently, a crime is being reported against the Naxalites and the search for their residence is ongoing, the existence of an IED near the security force camp indicates that the Naxalites may be nearby. In such a scenario, the security forces are on high alert and actively conducting the search operation without pause.
