Ravindra Raina affirmed that the BJP will consistently oppose the reimplementation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

On Wednesday, a resolution to reinstate Article 370 was approved in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. In response to the proposal, BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit president Ravinder Raina strongly opposed it, stating that BJP will never approve the National Conference and Congress agenda, and will prevent the re-implementation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Raina also mentioned that Article 370 is now a thing of the past, having been eliminated on August 5, 2019. He claimed that this article was the root cause of separatism and terrorism, leading to the deaths of innocent individuals, explosions, and shootings in Jammu and Kashmir.

In addition, Raina accused the new Jammu and Kashmir government of colluding with the Congress to revive terrorism and separatism.

He stated that Article 370 infringed upon the rights of women and violated the human rights of Gujjar, Bakarwal, Pahari, OBC, Dalit community, and Gorkha community.

Simultaneously, ex-Chief Minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti responded to the suggestion. She commented on the lack of clarity in the proposal’s language and suggested that if there had been a PDP government, it would have been presented more clearly.

Mufti thought it was more than just a “credit or debit” issue, stating that the PDP always kept its promises to the people, whereas the National Conference (NC) made this proposal reluctantly. She also mentioned that the tone of this proposal doesn’t reflect that of a party with a strong majority and should be enhanced in the future.

The resolution presented by the Jammu and Kashmir government in the assembly emphasizes the significance of special status and constitutional guarantees, which have safeguarded the identity, culture, and rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The resolution conveys strong worry about the one-sided removal of Article 370.

The Government of India has been asked to initiate discussions with the elected officials of Jammu and Kashmir to establish a suitable constitutional framework for the reinstatement of special status and constitutional protections. In addition, it must be guaranteed that this procedure will uphold both the unity of the nation and the rightful hopes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
