A source from a hotel in the Hamptons, where Justin Timberlake was spotted dining last week and enjoying a $21 James Bond special Vesper Martini, apparently contacted the police about the singer before his startling DWI arrest, as reported by RadarOnline.
The call to the police was made nearly a week before Timberlake, aged 43, found himself under arrest for DWI early last Tuesday. An informant from Sag Harbor’s American Hotel is said to have alerted the authorities regarding Timberlake’s conduct.
Timberlake reportedly had ‘just one martini’
The identity of the individual who notified the police remains undisclosed. However, it has been reported that they warned the officers about Timberlake having consumed “excessive amounts of alcohol” and his potential attempt to drive home.
“A lot of drinks were had by Justin, and the cops were advised to keep an eye on him in case he decided to drive,” a restaurateur from Southampton conveyed to the New York Post on Sunday.
It was later disclosed that Timberlake was stopped and released just moments before another stop led to his arrest on DWI charges last Tuesday morning.
A law enforcement officer confirmed that Timberlake was initially stopped by Officer Michael Arkinson, a “young” member of the force, who let him off with a warning shortly after he left the American Hotel.
“The officer decided to stop him and cautioned him against driving,” the source disclosed to the Post on Saturday.
“The officer didn’t recognize him since he’s quite young and still chose to give Justin a pass as he didn’t see him as an immediate threat.”
Timberlake experienced being pulled over twice in The Hamptons
Nevertheless, Timberlake was pulled over again a few minutes later for the second and last time. Officer Arkinson noticed Timberlake running a stop sign and veering his 2025 BMW into the opposing lane. “What a foolish act,” remarked the source. “You’d think he could hire a driver. Talk about feeling entitled.”
Ultimately, Timberlake was charged with one count of driving while intoxicated and two other traffic offences, including failing to stop at a stop sign and not maintaining his lane.
On Wednesday, Edward Burke Jr., Timberlake’s attorney, said, “We’re eager to defend Mr. Timberlake against these charges vigorously.”
“He’ll have much to share at the right moment.”
