Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate a Metro train in Pune on Thursday and introduce multiple development projects totaling more than Rs 22,600 crore.
According to an official announcement, the opening of the section from District Court to Swargate in Pune Metro will signify the finish of Phase-1 of the Pune Metro Rail Project. The underground portion from District Court to Swargate is approximately Rs 1,810 crore in cost.
He will additionally inaugurate the construction of Swargate-Katraj extension of Pune Metro Phase-1, with an estimated cost of about Rs 2,950 crore. It was reported that this underground southern extension, measuring approximately 5.46 km, includes three stations – Market Yard, Padmavati, and Katraj.
He will also participate in the laying of the foundation stone for the first girls’ school in honor of the renowned social reformer Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule at Bhidewada.
According to the statement, as part of his dedication to achieve self-sufficiency in supercomputing technology in India, Modi will present three PARAM Rudra Supercomputers to the country, with a combined value of approximately Rs 130 crore, created domestically through the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM).
Supercomputers possess high processing power
Deployed in Pune, Delhi, and Kolkata to support innovative scientific research. The GMRT in Pune will use a supercomputer to investigate Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) and other cosmic events. The presence of Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) in Delhi will improve research in areas such as material science and atomic physics.
It was mentioned that the S N Bose Centre in Kolkata will promote cutting-edge research in fields like physics, cosmology, and earth sciences.
While visiting the state preparing for elections, the prime minister will officially start up a specialized high-performance computing (HPC) system designed for weather and climate studies. This initiative involves a financial commitment of Rs 850 crore, representing a major advance in India’s computational capabilities for meteorological purposes.
Positioned at two important locations, the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) in Pune and the National Center for Medium Range Weather Forecast (NCMRWF) in Noida, this HPC system possesses impressive computational capabilities. It was stated that the new high-performance computing systems are called ‘Arka’ and ‘Arunika,’ indicating their link to the Sun.
Modi will introduce several projects in the petroleum and natural gas industry totaling Rs 10,400 crore. These efforts will center on improving energy, infrastructure, safety, and convenience for truck and cab drivers, promoting cleaner transportation, and working towards a sustainable future.
He plans to introduce roadside facilities for truck drivers in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Songadh, Belagavi, and Bangalore Rural to make driving more convenient.
The purpose is to create modern facilities for truckers and cab drivers during their long journeys, including affordable boarding, clean toilets, parking, cooking area, WiFi, and Gym. This project costs approximately Rs 2,170 crore at 1,000 retail outlets.
Modi will also launch Bidkin Industrial Area, a major project spanning 7,855 acres as part of the government of India’s National Industrial Corridor Development Program, located 20 kilometers south of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra, among many other initiatives.
The initiative within the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor could become a thriving economic center in the Marathwada area due to its significant potential. It was stated that the Central government has given the go-ahead for this project, which has a total project cost exceeding Rs 6,400 crore to be implemented in three stages.
