Days after it was revealed that one man approached two families — one in Dehradun and the other in Ghaziabad — claiming to be their long-lost son, Khoda police arrested Bhim Singh, alias Monu Sharma, on allegations of duping both families.
According to authorities, the man, now identified as Indraraj Rawat (38), is a resident of Rajasthan’s Jaitsar area and has fooled several families by acting as their lost child.
After the Ghaziabad family was reunited with their “son Bhim Singh” on November 28, who had been kidnapped as a nine-year-old 31 years ago, the Ghaziabad Police received word of a similar case from their colleagues in Uttarakhand last Saturday (November 30).
In July, a guy surfaced in Dehradun, claiming to be Monu Sharma, Asha Sharma’s (50) long-lost son, who was similarly stolen when he was 16 years old in 2008. Tularam from Ghaziabad, whom Bhim said was his father, also filed a police report on December 1, stating that his long-lost son was acting strangely. “The man my family and I had identified as our son, Bhim Singh alias Pannu, has been behaving differently. “He has been living in my house as my son for the last five days, but I am concerned about his conduct and behavior,” Tularam informed the police.
Following this, the Khoda police station in Ghaziabad summoned the suspect for questioning before arresting him on Sunday. He was arrested on Friday.
Anand Prakash Mishra, Station House Officer (SHO) of Khoda police, stated, “Indraraj initially told us that his name was Raju and that he was kidnapped 30 years ago.” He claimed he was being taken hostage by Sai Ram, a herder in Jaisalmer.” He said that he was forced to rear sheep and cows as a bonded laborer. “He alleged that a truck driver rescued him and helped him reach Delhi,” she said. Indraraj then stated that the truck driver assisted him in reaching the Khoda police station.
