New Delhi: Despite a technological glitch, a Delhi University (DU) student performed admirably during a freshers’ celebration at Indraprastha College for Women (IPCW). Shreeaa Rathi encountered an unexpected setback when the speakers failed. Instead of allowing the situation to become unpleasant, her audience stepped in and sang for her. This moment has now become popular on social media.
In the video, Ms Rathi is seen dancing to the popular song Afreen Afreen. When the sound system broke, the audience suddenly became her biggest fan, filling the quiet with a rousing version of the song. Their assistance guaranteed that the concert went on, forming a “core memory” for the pupil. “Speakers gave up, but the audience didn’t,” reads the video’s text overlay. In her caption, Ms Rathi extended gratitude to the audience, calling them the “Bestestt.”
Audience members and online users alike expressed their opinions.
Another user said, “The moment “you decided to dance” while the audience started singing.”
Someone who attended the event stated, “I was actually there; it was our fresher’s and she decided to give the performance on the spot, but the speakers went out by the end of the event, so the audience sang.” It was such a feeling, and her performance was well worth the vocal strain.”
“When women support women,” one response said.
A video of the principal of DU’s Gargi College walking the ramp and dancing with students at the annual cultural event, Reverie, went viral many months ago. In the video, the principal, clad in a lovely saree, surprises the audience by dancing to the song High Heels by Jaz Dhami and Honey Singh with two students. The video was posted on Instagram with the description, “Reverie even made our principal dance.”
