The BJP Delhi unit organized protests across the city on Sunday, doubling down on its anti-AAP campaign to highlight slum infrastructural issues. According to the party’s statement, protests took place in 968 minor and large slum clusters.
South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri stated conditions in the Govindpuri slum were poor as a result of the AAP government’s corruption. “There are no adequate roads, sanitation, or drinking water facilities. Residents of these slums are denied necessities. “Once the BJP forms the government, it will work to meet the aspirations of slum residents,” he stated.
With Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February next year, the BJP is focusing on unplanned colonies and slums, which are considered AAP strongholds.
Previously, MPs and top party leaders spent the night in the homes of residents of unauthorized colonies. Vishnu Mittal, Delhi BJP general secretary, announced on Sunday that senior party leaders will spend the night of December 15 in slum clusters to discuss their concerns with residents.
Northwest Delhi MP Yogender Chandoliya took part in a demonstration at Bawana’s JJ Colony, meanwhile, Delhi’s West MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat showed up at the Goyla Dairy slum. She accused the government led by the AAP of pushing slum dwellers to live without basic amenities.
Other BJP MPs and senior figures include Parvesh Verma and Ramesh Bidhuri, Vijender Gupta, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, MLAs Abhay Verma, O P Sharma, and Jitendra Mahajan, and Satish, former Delhi BJP president.
