The arrest of a 25-year-old guy allegedly linked with the Gogi gang prevented a potential gang war in Outer North Delhi, according to Delhi Police on Monday.
Ankit, an alleged Gogi gang member, was caught on Saturday with a weapon built in his home country and a live cartridge, according to police. The authorities stated Ankit was on his way to execute a rival gang member in vengeance for the murder of his fellow gang member, Amit Lakra. On November 13, a Tillu Tajpuriya gang member shot and killed Lakra in Mundka.
According to the authorities, Ankit allegedly stated that he was following orders from gangster Monty Maan over the Signal app.
Ankit, who was earlier charged with illegal arms and attempted murder in 2022, allegedly acknowledged during interrogation that the firearm was delivered by gang member Bholu of Alipur.
According to the police, Ankit’s arrest was part of a larger operation targeting active gang members and sleeper cells in Delhi’s outskirts. The police are looking for the other culprit, and an FIR has been filed under the Arms Act, they said.
In a similar operation, Narela police officers apprehended Rahul Kumar during a regular patrol near Sector 7 in Narela. According to the cops, Rahul was carrying a country-made pistol and live ammunition. Rahul, who has been named in a 2022 attempted murder case of emergency,
