Supreme Court Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan’s bench instructed the state to reply within three weeks and mandated the status quo to be upheld until the follow-up hearing.

During a recent hearing, the highest court stated that no demolitions should occur in the country without its approval.

The court decided to stop “bulldozer justice” until October 1, stating that any act of illegal demolition goes against the principles of constitution.’

Destruction of buildings’The Supreme Court was reviewing a group of petitions claiming that properties belonging to individuals accused of crimes were being destroyed in various states. During the previous court session, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the highest court that there was a construction of a “narrative” regarding the destruction of properties. “The bench assured him that external noise is not having an impact on us.”

Mehta also stated that the petitioners have alleged that the demolitions are targeting a specific religious group. In Madhya Pradesh, he stated that 70 shops were removed according to the proper procedure.

Over 50 were members of the Hindu faith. He said that they are discussing how ‘mohalla’ etc… is constructing a narrative. External noise does not affect us. “We will not address the issue of… which group… right now…” Justice Viswanathan had stated.
