A day after three family members were found slain in South Delhi’s Devli hamlet, authorities “recovered the murder weapon, a knife” and “a blood-soaked sweatshirt” the culprit allegedly wore at the time.

Arjun Tanwar, a 20-year-old state-level boxer, is accused of slitting the throats of his family members, including his father, ex-Armyman Rajesh Kumar Tanwar (51), mother Komal (46) and sister Kavita (23). According to police, Arjun, who made the PCR call, admitted to the crime when questioned. Police arrested him on Wednesday afternoon.

“The sweatshirt was retrieved from Sanjay Van.” “He (Arjun) changed his clothes after committing the murders and threw his sweatshirt into the bushes,” a police officer stated. “The knife he used was two to three inches larger than a kitchen knife. We believe it is a knife that his (Arjun’s) father acquired while serving in the Army. “He had also dumped this knife in Sanjay Van.” This large city forest is around 8 kilometers from the crime scene.

Police also stated Arjun had a difficult connection with his family, believing they preferred his sister over him and planned to transfer the family property to her name. Police further alleged Rajesh assaulted Arjun in front of his relatives.

There was shock in Devli village, Neb Sarai, where the Tanwars had resided in a two-story house for the past ten years, on a narrow lane lined with concrete houses that appeared to be glued together.

A neighbor, who works as a driver in a house in nearby Sainik Farms, said he knew them well. “I’ve known them for a decade now. He (Rajesh) works as a PSO at Sainik Farm. He always spoke softly. His children were similarly well-behaved. I never saw them arguing in public. I never saw or heard the youngster (Arjun) fight with anyone,” he stated.
