Adityam Tyagi and Nitish Tandon, their flatmates, were scheduled to have a pleasant day off from work on Monday. They had just awoken from their private company jobs in Noida when they heard a disturbance outside their rented 10-story apartment in Sector 74. While Nitish ignored the disturbance and proceeded to brush his teeth, Adityam peered outside their balcony to see what was going on.

What he witnessed chilled him to the bone. He noticed their neighbour hanging from the balcony of the 12th-floor common corridor, prepared to leap. What Adityam did next, however, saved the man’s life.

As Adityam yelled for Nitish, his flatmate, holding a brush in his mouth, followed him up the two flights. When Adityam arrived at the location where the man was hanging, he pulled him back with both hands, while Nitish dragged him up by his legs, bringing the man to safety.

Nitish (29), who works at an insurance business in the UK, stated, “Moments after we rescued him, he started crying in our arms.” Adityam and Nitish share their three-bedroom flat with three other men aged 25 to 29.Adityam (26), an app developer at Accenture, shared, “We woke up around 10 a.m. and were discussing… Suddenly, we heard people shouting. I stepped to the balcony and noticed a large number of people standing on the ground, with a few filming videos. When I looked up, I saw only two legs dangling in the air… I called for Nitish, and he followed me.

“I asked Nitish to hold his legs, and we pulled him up,” he explained. Hours later, the man’s family arrived at the institution and took him home. “His parents would not cease thanking us.
