Early on Friday morning, at least 16 Delhi schools received bomb threats via email, which led to a multi-agency search of the buildings, according to the Delhi Police. Police determined that the threats were hoaxes after conducting a thorough investigation and finding nothing untoward. Schools in the nation’s capital received fake bomb threats for the second time in a week.
These educational institutions include, among others, Cambridge School in Srinivas Puri, Bhatnagar International School in Paschim Vihar, Delhi Public School in the East of Kailash, and Salwan Public School in Mayur Vihar. The email requested that the schools “reply” to verify the sender’s requests.
After receiving the bomb threat via email at 4.30 am, police, fire, and bomb detection teams, as well as dog squads, arrived at the schools and began their investigation. Following the threat email, parents received communications from the school administration advising them not to send their kids to class.
In a post on X, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal described the bomb threat emails as “extremely serious and worrying” and claimed that they could “badly affect children.” How much will the kids suffer if this keeps up? What will become of their academic pursuits? “AAP chief said.”
Hoax bomb threats were also sent by email earlier this week to around 40 Delhi schools, including GD Goenka Public School in Paschim Vihar and Delhi Public School in RK Puram.
According to the Delhi Police, emails sent at approximately 11.30 p.m. on Sunday claimed that bombs had been set on school grounds and asked for $30,000 to put an end to the explosions.
