The Delhi Transport Department’s Scrapping Cell has directed all registered vehicle scrapping facilities (RVSFs) not to demolish impounded end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) till November 29.

The reason for this is that several applications from car owners seeking the release of impounded overaged automobiles are still pending. According to the criteria to obtain ELVs, a vehicle owner must make an application for provisional release of his car within three weeks of it being detained. The transportation department must decide whether to release the car within one week of receiving the application.
