A man who had a brief disagreement with the 30-year-old police constable moments earlier drove after him in a car, struck his bike, pulled him more than 30 feet, and crushed him into a stationary vehicle at 2:15 in the morning. The police constable died while on duty in Nangloi, west Delhi, early on Sunday.

Sandeep Malik allegedly stopped the two drunk people in the car from drinking inside, and as a result, the police claim that they “deliberately” ran over Malik.

Two persons were named in a murder complaint, and Rajnish was one of them when he was taken into custody. Chip packets and a bottle of alcohol were discovered inside the automobile when it was confiscated by police, according to the Times of India.

An early police journal entry, however, contradicts the reported rationale that the suspects were furious because Sandeep Malik had prevented them from drinking.

The entry stated that the constable was under pressure from Jangra, a booze dealer, to “get work done.” Police did not make clear what was in the diary, even though they denied any link to organized crime.

Given that one suspect was involved in property rentals and the other’s family owned a general shop, police insisted that the attack was deliberate.

Due to a spike in theft cases, Delhi Police constable Sandeep was wearing civilian clothing when the incident occurred at Veena Enclave in Nangloi. He was on normal patrol at the time.

At a railway yard parking lot, he had challenged two men who were intoxicated in their parked automobile. I asked them to leave, and then we got into a fight.

According to a senior police officer, “Malik confronted two men who were drinking in their car at the railway yard parking lot.” “The suspects, Dharmender and Rajnish, refused to go home when the officer ordered them to. A furious argument resulted from this,” he continued.

Dharmender was chastised by Constable Sandeep, who also threatened to sue him and advised him to leave the area. This infuriated Dharmender, who then sped off in the automobile with the constable pursuing on his motorcycle, according to the report.

After leaving the area, the accused waited outside Veena Enclave, expecting Sandeep to arrive. It was verified by the CCTV evidence that the officer was run over on purpose and without cause.

The automobile stopped and reversed slightly at 2:15 in the morning on 29th September. The culprit ran over Constable Sandeep when he approached on his motorcycle.

Sandeep lost control as a result of the incident, crashing between the WagonR and another car. Despite being taken to two hospitals in Delhi, Sandeep did not survive. Following an autopsy, his family received his body. Later, when fresh information was discovered in the police diary entry, the case took a turn.

Even though the police quickly ruled out a “mafia angle” in the incident, a booze supplier named Jangra was referenced in their own diary entry that was made public on Sunday.
